Message from Dr Akal

At St Henry’s we are concerned to develop, to the full, the talents of all our students. We set high standards and we expect the students to do their very best to attain these standards. We are very proud of our results both inside and outside the classroom but we do recognise that not all children are equally gifted and it is, therefore, the potential of the child, and the development of the child’s special talents, that we concentrate on. Our aim is to encourage all children to make the most of their opportunities whilst at St Henry’s. In this way, the pupils usually realise their full potential. However, we see our role not only in encouraging the pupils to achieve their full potential but also in making them aware of their obligations and responsibilities to the School and to the wider community and to be well prepared to face the many challenges that lie ahead. Throughout its history, St Henry’s has endeavoured to remain true to the vision of the Marist Brothers, whilst adapting to changing times. Our belief is in the education of the “whole person”, encompassing the development of academic, physical, spiritual, emotional and social qualities. Although its ethos is strongly Catholic, St Henry’s welcomes children of all faiths.
Whilst we have attempted in this website to convey something to you about St Henry’s, all we can really hope to achieve is to present some of the more relevant and pertinent facts and details about the College. The best way to get to know St Henry’s and to understand its ethos and culture, is to see it in action. I hope you will accept my invitation to visit us at the College and to take the opportunity of seeing for yourself what we have to offer.
You are assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
Yours Sincerely,
Dr A V G Akal
