The Steel Drum Band has been offered as an extra-mural activity at St Henry’s for the past six years. This year for the first time, we welcomed the Grade 3s to join us and they quickly settled into the band.
Our instructor is Bryan Clarke, a member of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra. He is highly experienced and makes each lesson a lot of fun and a meaningful experience.
The lessons are excellent for developing concentration and motor skills, for building team spirit and engendering a wonderful love of music.
We have participated in various competitions and festivals in the past and have acquitted ourselves very well.
This year, we look forward to the Annual Steel drum Festival held in September at the Lake in the Botanical Gardens. Up to one hundred bands are expected to compete.
