Learning Enrichment Centre (LEC)

At St Henry’s, we believe that every child learns differently and that with the right support, every child can thrive. The Learning Enrichment Centre (LEC) provides a caring, structured environment where students receive the extra attention they need to build confidence and achieve academic success.

The centre is led by our Educational Psychologist, Fanitsa Zervogiannis, who oversees the smooth running of the programme and works closely with a dedicated team of remedial specialists to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met.

Foundation Phase (Grades 1-3)

In these early formative years, children are developing the building blocks of learning, especially in literacy (reading, writing, spelling and comprehension) and numeracy (number sense, basic operations and problem-solving).

Our Foundation Phase Remedial Specialist, Meredith Madgin, provides personalised support for children who may need a little extra help in grasping these key skills. Through engaging, hands-on activities and targeted remediation, children are guided to strengthen their understanding and build confidence.

Senior Preparatory Phase (Grades 4-7)

As students move into the intermediate and senior grades of the prep school, academic demands increase and learning gaps become more evident. Our Senior Preparatory Remedial Specialist, Lee Eagar, provides focused support in English and Mathematics to help students reinforce concepts, develop study strategies and approach learning with greater independence and confidence.

The Learning Enrichment Centre also offers small, specialised classes in the prep school for those students who need more intensive, structured support in English and Mathematics.:

These LEC classes are taught by experienced Remedial Specialists Catherine Human (Grades 4-5) and Yolanda Young (Grades 6-7) and are designed to provide personalised instruction in a supportive setting. With a maximum of ten students, lessons move at a slower, manageable pace and use a multi-sensory approach to ensure concepts are clearly understood and retained.

Placement in these classes is fluid and is based on individual progress. Once a student has made sufficient improvement and is able to manage the pace and demands of the larger class, they are integrated back. Classes are reviewed termly through collaboration with the Educational Psychologist, Remedial Specialists, and class teachers, ensuring that students who would benefit most are appropriately placed.

Our goal at the Learning Enrichment Centre is simple – to build confidence, bridge learning gaps and help every child reach their full potential in a nurturing and encouraging environment.
